Kenny Reunion

We had a bit of a family reunion this week.
Corey and I had a wonderful weekend, spending time with my family.

My brother Aaron, his wife Erica and their children Tristan, Emma and Ava were home visiting from Kenya. My brother Adam and his oldest child Liam were visiting from Calgary (unfortunately his wife Ivy and daughters Livia and Laurel couldn't come). My sister Amanda, and her husband Justin and 5 children, Ezabella, Penelope, Cec, Dublin and Elliot came down from Summerside...and we all congragated at my parents house for a fun day of playing outside, bike riding, chatting, laughing and enjoying a great meal together.

Family is so important, and I feel very blessed to have such an amazing family...and for this short amount of time...having us all together is amazing!

The Olympic Flame on PEI

On Saturday afternoon the Olympic flame arrived on PEI. Corey and I traveled with the caravan for most of the weekend, following the Torch. Here are a few photos from our adventure.

Canada Games medalest for team PEI, Matthew Casely, carried the torch off the ferry in Wood Islands and onto PEI soil.

Here is me holding the Torch with one of the Torchbearers in Vernon Bridge.

Each torchbearer carried the flame for 300meters, and then handed the flame off to another torchbearer. Here is one of the handoffs on Sundy morning in North Rustico.

This was a once and a lifetime opportunity for many Torchbearers...and they were extremely excited to represent our country.

In Cavendish, the Torch travelled with Canadian Hockey Player, Cassie Campbell, on board a horse and carriage with Anne and Matthew up to Green Gables House.

The Crowd in Cavendish was awesome! They were also celebrating the 135th birthday of L. M. Montgomery.

After their lunch break, they lined up the next batch of runners who would be taking the torch through the streets of Cavendish. Don't they look great in their matching uniforms!

To the Zoo

Last Saturday was a busy day. I had to work in the early morning a than at 10:30 my parents, my sister and her family and my bro Adam and his family all arrived at my house and we caravanned to Moncton to go to the Zoo to celebrate Cecilie’s birthday.

We decided to make it an adventure, we’d rent a 15 passenger van and all travel together. We had one too many people, so we ended up with a 15 passenger van and a single car.

Corey and I volunteered to set in the back of the van with the kids…and it was a fun ride! Lots of sing songs, animal sound games, and what’s a road trip without a few snacks for the drive.
The kids had an amazing time at the Moncton Zoo. Here are all the cousins together (we sure wish Tristan, Emma and Ava could have been there too).

Heritage Fair

Today is the Provincial Heritage Fair at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Our neice, Taylor, was one of the winners at her school fair and qualified to display her amazing project at the Provicials.
Taylor did an amazing job! Here project was titled

"A Look Back in my Grandmothers time, the MikMac of PEI"

Taylor displayed artifacts from teh MikMac culture, explained the significants of their sweet grass, smudging ceremonies, and she even wore her own traditional Native dress, which she helped make a few summer ago

The fairs goes until 3pm today.

Congrats Taylor! We are so proud of you!

Spring has arrived

Spring has sprung and Summer is just around the corner!

Corey and I have had a wonderful the past few weeks cleaning up the yard, purchasing new ride-on lawn mower, and getting ready for summer in our spare time. I’m excited to fix up the flower beds in a couple weeks time, and seed some new grass in our yard.

This past weekend we have a wonderful day Sunday when we took one or our nieces, Cecilie, to the Family Day in Summerside. She got her face painted, played on the inflatable’s, went to a puppet show and a children’s concert, enjoyed the wonderful clowns and princesses, made her own princess crown, and just had a fantastic day!

Our Trip South

Okay, so at the request of some friends and family, here are a bunch of pictures from our southern holiday. It seems like forever ago (but it was only a month) since Corey and I headed to the DR for week of fun, sun and relaxation.

We stayed at the Casa Marina in Sosua. It was a lovely hotel, very large. There were three main pools, two children's pools and two private beachs seperated by a beautiful reaf which held four large hot tubs.

Here is the main beach. This was near the end of the day, hence why there is noone on the beach .

Every night they would put on performances in the theater; however one night they closed down the theatre because their was a leak in the roof. This picture was the next day when they were fixing the roof. Remember alot of building in the DR don't have real roofs, they simply use branches. When I took this picture there were a group of men on the room ripping off the old branches, throwing them down to the pile on the ground.... and another group of men preparing bundles of new branches which they would carry on their shoulders while they climbed he ladder up to the roof, where they would attach them. A very neat thing to watch.

We did a few ventures out of our resort complex. One was to through the town of Sosua and their public beach. The was actually about 3 miles long, and the entire three miles was small shops (bargining shacks) where people are trying to sell you stuff. Here is a glimps of the beach.

Our other adventure was a highlight of the trip. We ventured to "Paradise Island". A full day on the road, driving to Isabell Beach, taking a speed boat out to a private island for a traditional Dominican lunch, taking the speedboat through the national park and then to "Paradise Island"

This "Island" is actually a Sandbar in the middle of the ocean that never gets covered by water. It has some of the greatest snorkling, with thousands of fish, eating banana's out of our hands, literally.

I know alot of people ask about food in the DR. Our resort had great food with lots of variety. There were two huge buffets offering food for every meal, two snack bars open all day with pizza, burgers, fries, etc. And three"fancy" resturants. Here is Corey at the Italian resturant...mmmm they had great cheesecake deserts.

Another highlight of our trip was a guy named Ricky. He was the resorts photographer. Ricky took us on three different photo shoots... here are a few of Ricky's pictures.

Okay, so this next picture has a story to it. We were standing on the reef trying to get a picture with the wave behind us. As soon as this wave behand us falls, another wave comes up to our left, it goes over Corey and I and drenches Ricky... and I mean drenches. He was soaked from head to toe, and his camera stopped working. It will definitly be a memorable shoot for Ricky, because he was very, very afraid that his camera was broke for good, but luckily he was able to take it to the camera shop and get it fixed. Needless to say, Ricky said that he will probably stay away from the reef for photo shoots from now on.

And that was our trip in a nutshell....

Seven Things...

Okay, so I’ve been tagged by too many people to ignore this game any longer… here it goes –

SEVEN THINGS THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME:

1) My all-time favorite food is Kraft Dinner, the original kind. mmmm… KD with a glass of cold milk is the best meal you could serve me, with an ultimate cookie for dessert!

2) Corey and I have a weird fascination with those head cut-out pictures. You know, those life-size wooden pictures that have the hole for you to put your head through and take a picture…. we love those things; we must have like 50 different pictures of us with our heads stuck through them.

3) I really can’t tell the different between dark pop – Pepsi, Coke, PC Cola, Big 8 Cola, diet/regular…it all tastes the same to me. However, I don’t drink any of them very often, I’m more of a rootbeer kinda girl.

4) Corey has perfect teeth, not a single cavity, and I have perfect vision, 20/20 eye site; however, if you look at us in reverse, my mouth is full of fillings, and without his glasses/contacts Corey couldn’t see two feet in front of him. Complete opposites, but perfectly made for each other :). Needless to say, when we have kids we pray that they get Corey’s teeth and my eyes.

5) I have my license to transport dangerous goods. So if you have any hazardous materials or chemicals you needs moved, just give me a shout. When I worked for the radio station as their promotional person, I use to drive around the province to different festivals and events and hand out pop and chips. I had a transportable fountain pop machine, which I had to hook up to tanks of pop – those tanks are pressurized with carbon dioxide which made them a dangerous good. Therefore, I had to take full day’s course with JVI Driver Training School to get my license to transport dangerous good. (You’ll notice now that most of the radio station vans don’t use the fountain pop machines anymore, they either don’t serve pop, or they pour glass out of plastic bottles.)

6) I am constantly loosing things. Honestly, in 2008 I probably lost my keys at least once a month; I am always loosing my cellphone, my wallet, my daytimer and even my camera. Things go missing for about a week (sometimes two) and then I always seem to find them in the weirdest locations. My camera in the laundry room, or my keys in the medicine cabinet. I’m getting better, but anything important (like my birth certificate or concert tickets) I have to give to Corey to make sure I don’t loose them.

7) I love grocery shopping, I find it really relaxing. Sometimes I’ll make the classic grocery list and it’s like a treasure hunt looking for the best buys on different items, or sometimes I’ll just wander through the store picking up anything that looks appetizing. When it comes to food I’ll try anything once; however, if I don’t like it I certainly won’t buy it again.

Well, it is December 29th, Corey and I are back to work, and New Years is just around the corner.Christmas, of course, has been very busy, but also a lot of fun! In anticipation for Christmas getting ready for the churches cantata, which was beautiful, doing lots of shopping and attending a bunch of Christmas parties…here is a pic from the station party.

Christmas day, Corey and I woke in our home to the beautiful sun shining through our windows. We stoked the fire, and opened our stockings. Then we hit the road for a full day. We first traveled to PapaT’s house in East Royalty, where we opened presents, and had the biggest brunch ever. It certainly was a different Christmas without Corey’s mom this year, but you could definitely feel her spirit in the room, as Jayne and Steph did an amazing job filling the house with all her lovely Christmas decorations.

We then traveled to Brackley, where Mom, Dad, Amanda, Justin and the kids were all waiting for us to arrive. We had great afternoon, with more presents, (lots of surprises,) playing with the kids, and an incredible turkey dinner with all the fix’ns. We also had a games evening, where we pulled out Corey’s new Christmas game called ImaginIf… it was really really fun.

Boxing day was a relaxing day at home and then on the 27th we headed out county to visit our Granny and Grampy Kenny.

Then we traveled over to Jayne and Jordan's house for more Christmas presents and more yummy food! Here is her beautiful tree.

And on the 28th I had the pleasure of hosting our annual girls party. Every year my girl friends from high school still get together for a Christmas party, and this year we had a new addition, little Johanna Gill. The newest addition to the gang! (Sorry, Lisa and Sara, that you couldn't be there. Hopefully next year!)

Well, that is a summary of our Christmas, lots of food, family, friends and fun! New Years is only a few days away, so hope you all have a fun and safe New Years Eve.

Christmas is just around the corner

It's hard to believe that the last time I blogged with the election week... especially considering the political situation in Canada right now...but enough about that, if you want a political commentary, I'm sure you can find many of them across the web.

This week in my life the focus hasn't been on politics as much as it has been getting ready for Christmas. Mom and went to Home-hardware and bought a bunch of new LED Christmas lights. It was fantastic, they did a light exchange with Maritime electric where if you brought in two sets of old, less energy efficient lights, they would give you one free set of LED lights, plus they had a bunch of coupons for LED lights! I'm so excited to put them up!

Talking about lights, on Friday night mom and I joined friends Linda, Marjorie and Glenn for the Lights Across Canada event. This is when we dress up from the 1800's and lead a candle lit walk up historical Great George Street, at the top of the street we meet Santa, and after a short ceremony he lights up the big Christmas Tree at the Provincial Building. It is always a really fun night!

Then on Saturday the City was a buzz of people watching and waiting for Santa to arrive at the annual Santa Claus Parade. Here are a few pics of us watching and waiting for the parade to begin. Unfortunately my battery ran out before the parade began... so I didn't get any pics of Santa, or Corey onthe Ocean 100 float.

Well, over the next few weeks we will be busy rehearsing for the Christmas Cantata at Church (Dec 21 at 10:45 if anyone wants to come), buying presents, decorating and just getting ready for the celebration of Christs birth! I love Christmas!

Election Day

Election Day

It is Election Day here in Canada. I’ve read lots of blogs that rant and rave about candidates, parties and leaders…but I’m not that political, so my Election Day rant is actually about my polling station.

Look in the pictures below… that is an aerial shot of me and Corey’s home.

So, you see our house in the middle of the picture, and if you follow the arrow across our backyard, you’ll see the half circle, that is our community centre.

The community centre is obviously adjacent to your backyard and it is also a polling station for the federal election. When Corey and I heard this we were excited: “Oh great! All we have to do is walk across our backyard to vote.” But sadly, we were wrong.

Even though the polling station is basically in our backyard, we have to drive 10 minutes to vote. Isn’t that crazy!

I’m shocked… and I find it hilarious! Instead of a two second walk, we have to drive 20 minutes to vote (10min there and 10min back). I understand that you have to set boundary lines for the polling districts, but don’t you think that the polling station should be in the middle of the district, not on the edge of the district line? This is a bit crazy if you ask me.

So tonight after I get home from work Corey and I will drive the 10 minutes to cast our votes. Best of luck to all the candidates! And for all those Canadians of age, please remember to vote before 8:30pm today!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving!

What a beautiful time of year. Here are a few pics from the past couple weeks, as the autumn season has come into full bloom on PEI. We’ve enjoyed apple picking, nature hikes, and even a trip over to the Moncton Zoo to celebrate Penelope’s birthday.

On Thanksgiving weekend we enjoyed two turkeys, one with the Tremeres and one with the Kennys…mmm… both tables were a wonderful bounty of food! It was an amazing weekend, spending time with our families, enjoying lots of laughs, and great food!

September - reading "The Shack"

September was quite a month!
We celebrated lots of family birthdays, our 3rd wedding anniversary, the SummerSet music festival, I started taking French classes again, we visited with family and friends, and I tried to read a lot more.

One book that I started in the later half of September was the new hit book The Shack. I haven’t finished reading it yet (I’m a bit of a slow reader), but thus far here are a few thoughts about the book.

For those of you who haven’t heard about The Shack, it is a novel about a man who has experienced a horrific life experience (so awful I was crying as I read through the first couple chapters), and then received a note from God to meet him out at a shack in the woods.

When he arrives at the shack, he actually meets God in all three forms (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

David Gregory, author of Dinner with a Perfect Stranger, says that The Shack is “An exceptional piece of writing that ushers you directly into the heart and nature of God in the midst of agonizing human suffering.”

I love the quote (paraphrase), that Jesus isn’t interested in Religion, he’s interested in Relationships. This book really shows how God is building relationship with the character, how he is working within our human limitation to reach us, and interact with us…maybe not literally, like it is in the Shack, but I really feel that God can build a two way relationship with us here on earth, even though we can’t see or touch him.

We need to pray! The Bible tells us to “Pray Without Ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). I’m not a preacher, so I’m not going to preach, but I want to reiterate that God wants to build relationships with all of us and that one key component to any relationship is communication. Prayer is one medium to communicate with God and we are asked to pray continuously.

So, do I recommend The Shack? Yes… The Shack is a great tool to illustrate God’s nature, but it is only a novel. To build a true relationship with God we need regular prayer, Bible study and fellowship (just to name a few things).

Hope this blog wasn’t too deep…but those are my thoughts for the day!

August laughter and tears

I know it has been over a month since my last posting. Over the past month we’ve experience lots of emotions… from hysterical laughter to tears of sorrow. He is a short recap of life with the Tremeres.

At the first of Aug we had an amazing weekend camping in the eastern point of the Island! We stayed a small campground, and enjoyed an outstanding view of the beach, the ocean, and all of the beauty of God’s creation.

We then had the pleasure of attending the beautiful wedding of one of my bestfriends, Sara Lyriotokis to Steve Anstey. The wedding was absolutely breath taking! I was honoured to be asked to sing during the ceremony, and afterwards we enjoyed a fun reception at the Stanley Bridge Resort. What a fun weekend. Congrats to the new couple!

A couple weeks after the wedding, Corey and I started our vacation, and had the joy of travelling to Montreal, spending sometime with another one of my bestfriends, Angela Fay and her husband Dave

We also took in a Celine Dion Concert (more photos at ocean100.com), we watched U2 World Tour in 3D at the Imax theatre (great show!) and we enjoyed walking around historical Old Montreal. It was a wonderful weekend.

We arrived home at about 2am Monday morning, and crawled into bed after a long weekend in Montreal. A few hours later, we got a call from Corey’s sister, telling us that Corey’s mom was in the hospital, and she wasn’t doing well. We rushed into Charlottetown, and shortly after 1pm that same day, Corey's mom Judy left us. It was one of the most heart wrenching days I’ve ever experienced.

I want to take a moment and thank everyone who sent us cards, came to the wake or funeral, sent us a comforting email/facebook, and called us to just say ‘hello’. Judy was buried on Thursday, August 21. It was a beautiful ceremony. I was so proud of Corey, Jason, Jayne and Step; they are such a strong family unit. For those of you who couldn’t make it, instead of a single person going up and giving a eulogy, the four of them stood together at the podium and Jason and Steph both shared words about their mother. It was so heart felt…and simply beautiful .

Life will never be the same without Judy, but since the funeral, we have tried to stay strong, support our family, and continue living life to the fullest.

Corey started back to work last week, and was overcome by the support of Islanders during their annual Food drive. The morning show hosts of Ocean 100 commit to stay locked in the studio until it is full of food donations. They lasted there 28 hours, and raised thousand and thousands of dollars worth of food donations.

Last week we also got a new addition to our family, a new bunny rabbit named Bun. He is a handful, but he is just so cute!

Now that labour day has come and gone, the autumn season is quickly approaching here on PEI; I don’t go anywhere without a sweater close at hand. Work has been very very busy this week, all in preparation for the looming federal election I presume. I will keep you posted on how September squares up for us Tremeres…who knows it might include: concerts, birthdays, our 3rd wedding anniversary, rosh hashanah (I don’t know what that is…but it’s on my calendar for September 30), and loads more!

Summer Party at our House

Yesterday Corey and I hosted a summer party for our families!

The ladies took charge of the kitchen, as the boys fired up the bbq.

Thanks for coming everyone! It was such a relaxing afternoon.

The kids enjoyed the swing, playing with our bunny midnight and I think the highlight was the slip n' slide.

The grandmother's had the pleasure of sitting back, chatting and watching the kids play.

It was a beautiful afternoon, we couldn't have asked for a better summer day on Prince Edward Island.

Car Wash

On July 11 we picked up our neices Ezabella, Penelope and Cec for a sleepover weekend. Our neice Taylor also came over on Saturday to join in the party! It was a fun weekend of playing on the slip n' slide, feeding our neighbors horses, watching movies, staying up late, and just having alot of fun.
To say thanks for the sleepover, the girls decided to wash our car.

Ringing in July is always alot of fun. We enjoy the Festival of Lights weekend, July 1 is Canada celebrations, and on July 2 the party continues as we celebrate Jayne's Birthday.

If you haven't guessed, Jayne is a big Harley-Davidson fan!

The party was out at a local campground, so we got to enjoy an awesome campfire as we watched Jayne open her birthday presents!

Festival of Lights

We celebrated Canada Day weekend at the Festival of Lights.

Ocean 100 hosted an up close and personal preparty with The Trews.

It was alot of fun!

Cavendish Islander Days

This past week we celebrated Islander Days in Cavendish, and we had the pleasure of visiting some awesome venues!

We started our Journey at Wax World for the Stars!

Here is Corey with some artists that he plays on Ocean100. He tried to interview them...but they literally had 'no comment'.

But I got some love from the one and only Shrek!

Can you find the real celebrity in the picture below? It was the real highlight of the visit, seeing Ocean100's very on Corey Tremer as a wax head!

After Wax World we headed over to Ripley's Believe it or not.

I never thought that Corey was a short guy, but compared to the world's tallest man, he is tiny!

This lady behind me has the world's longest neck....oooo...I don't think I'd want to have that title!

We made it to Fan-ta-ma-goric museum, and then down to Gelato-Go-Round for Gelatos. Sorry we don't have a gelato picture...they were so good that they didn't last very long, but we definitly recommend that if you're in Stanley Bridge you go and visit Gelato-Go-Round. It was mmmm...good!

Our final stop was to the Sandbox for supper!

It was a busy day in Cavendish...but we had a blast!

Any Islander who hasn't played tourist for a day, really needs to head to cavendish and checkout the great attractions!

CUP - Family Day

Considering Corey and I are a family to two…we decided to borrow a couple of my sister’s kids and join in the fun at Family Day at the Credit Union Place in Summerside. And it was definitely a fun day!

The organizers did a wonderful job bringing in tons of fun and educational displays for kids and adults alike! The girls played on the bouncy blowups, got some temporary tattoos, made crowns and even got to dress up like princesses.

We also saw some of their favorite characters, like Elmo.

All it all it was a fun day for the girls, and for Uncle Corey and Auntie Autumn!

Sunday was Father’s Day and starting the day at the fishing hole with Papa Cec. It was a beautiful morning to cast a line, and wait for the fish to bite. We didn’t have much luck, Corey caught a little one (we through it back), and we had a couple bites…but we weren’t able to supply fish for lunch.

However, I don’t think my sister Amanda actually expected us to supply fish for supper, because her and her husband hosted an amazing BBQ lunch in Summerside. Here is Dad with his cake, and with little Dublin.

Then we headed to the Tremere’s to celebrate with Dad T., Corey’s father Winston. We enjoyed a lovely meal at a local Chinese food restaurant and then back to Mom and Dad T.’s place for desert and presents.

Thanks to both our Dads, you are very special men, and we love you both very very much! Hope you had a Happy Father’s day.

Sleepover party!

On Saturday night Corey and I had three of our nieces over for a sleepover party, Taylor who is 10, Ezabella who is 5 and Penelopy who is 3. And oh what fun we had!

We played outside and inside, Taylor showed us her musical talent on the piano, Ezabella sang, Penelopy dance, we watched movies, colored pictures, made a calendar and even went to visit the horses next door.

For supper we had a pizza party, where everyone made their own pizza…here are the awesome creations!

Our bunny rabbit Midnight fell in love with Taylor!

Each of the girls also painted their very own flower pots, and when they woke up on Sunday morning, they were filled with flowers.

For breakfast Taylor made us all “Fruit Sundae’s”, with bananas, apples, and fresh raspberry smoothy sauce she made in the magic bullet. Mmmmm….. it was tasty!

It was an awesome weekend! Thanks for coming to visit girls, and you can come back for a sleepover any time!

Hannah Montana Birthday Party

One the weekend we celebrated our niece Ezabella’s fifth birthday!
It was a Hannah Montana theme party, with music, dancing, playing in the hot tub, bubbles, a new swing set, games, and an awesome Hannah Montana Birthday Cake!

Everyone had tons of fun!

And little brother Dublin tried his first bit of cake...mmmm... I think he really liked it!

Gardening 101

Well, we bought our house last November, so when spring rolled around I had no idea of what would be in the flower beds. I have three very large flower beds, each hugging a wall of the house/deck. I noticed that we had one bed that was sprouting quite a few very nice perennial plants, and the other two beds were almost empty....but then something started to sprout.

It was a green and white ground cover, and it was eating up one entire bed… Now don’t get be wrong, I think a ground cover can be very nice in the right place. For example, if it is used to hide a foundation, or fill in around a tree bottom. But an entire bed with just this (ugly in my opinion) ground cover, was not pretty. I am assuming that the previous owner had the bed full of annuals, but I don’t want to replant every year….so I decided to completed dig out the two beds that I didn’t like, and create all perennial beds.

We bought 12 bags of top soil, 12 bags of sheep manure and 5 huge bags of peat moss (and I still have to buy at least one more). We haven’t added any mulch yet…but that will be our next step.

I want to say a huge thanks to my mom and dad who came out and gave Corey and I the Flowerbeds 101 class. We learned a lot, got really dirty, and had a wonderful 6 hours out in the flower beds.

I haven’t taken the ‘final product’ photos yet…but once I add the mulch, I show you all the final product.

Our Flowerbeds certainly aren't finished....but the birds are enjoying the yard just as it is.

This is one of the yellow finches we see outside our window everyday. We also have a few song sparrows, bluejays, robins and blackbirds.

Well, May ended with a splash...literally!
On May 31st we spent the morning at Tim Hortons, raising money for the Tim Horton children’s Foundation Camp Day.

A bunch of the Ocean gang came out to show their support and join in the fun. Corey and Kirk both took their turn in the dunk tank. And really, know matter how many times they got dunked, it just got funnier and funnier every time! If you missed the fun, you can check out the dunk tank videos on Ocean 100 O-Tube

Later that day we traveled to Jayne and Jordan's house to celebrate our niece Trystan’s third birthday!

She had lots of fun opening presents and she really liked her flower cake!

MS Walk

Yesterday Corey and I had the pleasure of taking part in the Super City Walk for MS in Charlottetown.

The Charlottetown walk alone raised over $38,000. Other walks took place all across the Maritime provinces.

Corey MC’d the event, and I took part in the 5km walk.

It was a wonderful afternoon.

This is an annual event, and we incourage everyone who can to take-part in it next year!

Monster Trucks

Corey and I actually went to see the Monster Truck at the Summerside Wellness Centre last week.

I really didn't know what to expect, but watching the trucks fly through the air was pretty cool. Sorry, my pics really don't do it justice.

Then the transformer came out... a truck transformed into a firebreathing, car eating, dragon. And it actually ate a car.

If you ever go, make sure you have ear plugs. It was so loud!!!

Ottawa Adventures

The first week of May, Corey and I enjoyed a wonderful week in Ottawa. Corey attended the national Credit Union Conference during the days, and I got to adventure around Ottawa. Here are a few pics from our trip...

The International Tulip festival was in Ottawa the week we were there. With millions of tulips, the city was beautiful. Below is a picture of the Netherlands display at the International Pavilion. They had displays from dozens of countries around the world.

There were beautifully painted 4 foot tulips surrounding the festival grounds in downtown Ottawa.

Corey and I also 'met' the mascots for the China Olympics...

One evening we visited the Civilization Museum. If you haven't been, you really need to explore this amazing museum. It is a place we like to visit every time we're in Ottawa.

We thought this might have been a display highlighting hairdos like Corey's...lol

Another evening we went for a long walk along the Canal...

And ended up at the second location of the tulip festival... with beds and beds of tulips.

Final, we couldn't leave Ottawa without going to the aviation museum. If you dont' know, Corey loves everything about aviation...He is even, very very slowly, taking classes for his private piolet license.

And what's a trip to Ottawa without a stop at Parliment Hall.

We actually has the unique opportunity of sitting in on Question Period! What a neat experience.

Big Can Kick-off

Okay, for anyone who is not an Islander, you may find this funny....but today is the first day that canned or plastic bottled beverages were legal on PEI! So the radio station, Oceann 100, and Pepsi decided to throw a big street party to celebrate!

It was a ton of fun.

Here is Corey and I with our first legal can of pop on PEI!

As part of the festival, they had the radio guys dress up as FBI/Men-in-black - security guards, to escort the cans to the main stage.

It was hilarious!!!

Then the Minister of Environment official cracked open the first can!

This is the can pop tower! Guess the number of cans in the tower and you could win some awesome prizes.

The 'security' guys then handed out free pepsi to everyone in the crowd, and at 2:00 everyone cracked open their cans at the same time!

What a fun day! There was lots of great music, good food, and tons of Pepsi!

April Showers will bring May flowers!

Well, April was a very full month!
I spent most of the month on the road for work, and filling the weekends with fun!
My parents celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in April.

We also had the joy of celebrating Dad's 54th birthday. Dad's birthday always falls on the first day of fishing season, so we always start the day at the fishing hole.

Corey was the most successful fisherman, catching 4 fish.

Our friends Glenn and Myron also joined in the fun, along with a few of my relatives.

Also in April we celebrated with our neice Taylor, her 10th birthday.

This picture is of Taylor after her birthday, trying out her new Hannah Montana bedspread.

My big brother Aaron also celebrated his birthday on April 24th. So I wanna shout out a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Aaron. He and his family live in Kenya, so I don't have any pics of the birthday boy this year. Love you Bro!

And just this past weekend, we decided to take Corey fishing for smelts. For anyone who hasn't smelt fished before, smelts come in every spring to the Island streams for only a week or so. The smelts swim in swarms, so you just have to stick a net in the stream and you pull out tons of smelts.

All in all, April was a fun filled month!

Uncle and Auntie!

It’s always fun to be an Aunt and Uncle! You can have tons of fun with your nieces and nephews, but eventually they go home, and your life goes back to normal. This past weekend our niece Ezabella had a sleepover on Friday night with her cousins, so Corey and I thought that it would be nice if Penelope could have a special night out to, so we invited our three year old niece Penelope over for a sleepover!
We had a ton of fun!

I think the highlight Friday night was definitely giving each other makeovers…even Uncle Corey got in on the fun!

On Saturday Ezabella came over too, and we enjoyed a day of crafts, polly pockets, cartoons, piano, dancing and much more!

And Penelope enjoyed our neighbors puppy dog and ponies. Sunday afternoon finally rolled around, and it was time for the girls to go home!Corey and I really enjoy our nieces and nephews, it was a fun weekend!

Easter 2008

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter Weekend!

We sure did!

We went to church on Easter Sunday, and spent the afternoon hanging out with Corey's family and enjoyed a turkey dinner and a wonderful evening. (Sorry we forgot our camera...so no pics of Sunday.)
On Monday we relaxed in the morning, and then went to Brackley to visit with my family, the Kenny's.
The Easter bunny had left Easter Eggs all around the backyard, so the kids really enjoyed an outdoor Easter Egg Hunt!

It was a busy weekend in Charlottetown with the JackFrost Festival

Corey and I started the day volunteering at the IWK pancake breakfast....which raised almost $10,000!

Corey and Colin then had the pleasure of introducing Toopy and Binoo and the Spiderman superheros show

There were tons of characters meeting and greeting kids (and Corey) all over the grounds.
We also visited the amazing Aliant Snow Kingdom.

Inside the Snow Kingdome there were a ton of ice sculptures and snow designes
In the afternoon we met up with mom, Ezabella and Penelope
Penelope decided to be a kitten for the day

She said that Toopy and Binoo were the best part of the festival!
Ezabella loved meeting all the characters
and both girls enjoyed the ice slide!
All in all it was a very fun, and very full weekend at the Jack Frost Festival!

Housewarming

So, I don't have any pics...but this weekend Corey's and my parents hosted us a family housewarming party. We had a ton of our relatives and a few other family friends fill our new home.

Curling

Our friend Rebecca is having a birthday this week, so to celebrate, a bunch of us went curling on Friday night.

Corey and I had never curled before... but we certainly had alot of fun!

One of the guys was an experience curler, he became our coach. He even showed us what all the arm signals met, and how to actually 'curl' the rock. It's alot harder than it looks...but it's alot of fun!

The only piece of advise we were given before going to the rink was

"don't fall"

and we are happy to report that our bottoms stayed completely dry :)

Ice Storm

What a week!
Thank you all for your prayers, calls and emails.

As you probably already know, an ice storm hit PEI this week, and over 22,000 households were without power for a few days. There was actually about 3 hours on Wednesday where 90% of PEI had no power.

Corey and I lost our power on Monday, and it just came back late last night. No power means no heat, no water and no electricity…..so we’ve been crashing at my parents house most of the week.

The power lines and poles are down in a lot of places, and tons of trees have been damaged. When we got up on Tuesday, there was a power line across our front yard, one across our back yard, and a power line hanging over the Darlington road!

Welcome to 2008!

What an exciting time, starting a new year! 2008 on PEI thus far has been snowy! We had 4 snow storms in one week! The weather is starting to calm down now, and today it is actually raining.

Many people have been asking about my brother Aaron and his family. Aaron, his wife Erica and their two children Emma and Tristan moved to Kenya last year; they have since welcomed a baby girl, Ava, into their family as well. They live in Nairobi, where right now there is much turmoil and unrest.

They are a missionary family working with Canadian Baptist Ministries. I won’t go into all the details, but I ask that you please keep them in your prayers, espcially in these difficult days.

Merry Christmas!

It's hard to believe another Christmas season has come and gone!

We had a busy week! Corey and I worked on Christmas Eve, took part in the service and then dropped some gifts off at mom and dads and listened to Papa Cec read the Christmas Story.

We spent Christmas morning at our house, cooking breakfast and opening presents.

We then headed over to my parents house for the afternoon and a wonderful turkey dinner!

The girls and Dublin were all dressed in their Christmas outfits! Sooo...cute!
We then headed over to the Tremere's for dessert and more presents! We certainly were spoiled this year!

On boxing day we hosted a little party in the afternoon, with music...

And lots of food....here is our chocolate fountain!
And one last Christmas present, matching hats for little Dublin and his dad....aren't they cute!
Later on Boxing day we headed over to Corey's sister Jaynes house for another party! man....are we ever partied-out!

So, we have nice high ceilings in our new home, so we went to the Christmas Tree Lot on Friday and asked for the biggest fur tree they had...and this is what we got!

We are so excited to be in the midst of the Advent Season!

We've even taken a bit of a break from unpacking boxes and we are just enjoying the week leading up to Christmas!

U-haul Day was also Parade Day in Charlottetown! (I know what you're thinking....could we not pack anything more into our weekend!)

Penelope and Cecilie had a ton of fun watching the parade from outside the Ocean 100 studio with Nana, Papa Cec. and Me.

And Ezabella was on the East Coast Cheerleaders Float! As you can probably tell, it was a very very cold night!

U-Haul Day

It's finally Moving Day --- also known as U-Haul Day
This was our 27 foot U-Haul....the biggest one they rent! We picked it up on Friday night, it certainly is a beast to drive!
Our entire apartment was full of boxes. It's hard to believe two people could have so much stuff!

But thanks to help from Mom, Dad, Steph, Jayne, Taylor, Disco Steve, Don Neily, and Gerard Murphy...we got it all packed into the U-Haul and the trunks of our cars!
Even our new antique piano got moved in! Can you see Corey putting plumbing pipes under the piano? It was way to heavy to lift, and the old wheels wouldn'r spin, so thanks to Dad's innovative thinking, we rolled it along the pipes through the house!

And so finally, all of our worldly possessions are in our new house!

Everything excelt us..... our new bedroom isn't finished yet, so for this week, Corey and I are crashing at my folks house. But hopefully by this time next week, North Wiltshire will be the place we lay our heads at night!

Lights Across Canada

On Friday night we took a short break from the move, and took part in the annual Lights Across Canada Ceremony.

Mom and I always volunteer with the Parks and People and dress up and help hand out candles, serve cookies and hot chocolate. Here is my friend Linda, mom, me and mom's friend Karen.
Amanda and the girls came to visit us, and so did Corey and Dad.

Surprises

So, here is a tip to any new home owners... be ready for surprises!

This is what we call the elephant room (can you see the ugly elephant border?)The original owners used this an a big office (we think they had a home based web business). Being that this is the biggest room upstairs, we've decided to convert it into our Master Bedroom

When it came time to take down the elephants, we found our first surprise...they elephants were hiding a piece of gyprock screwed on to cover A HOLE IN THE WALL!

SURPRISE!!!!
So our wonderful handy man Mike is going to have to re gyprock the wall properly

Surprise #2, as we continued to take down the elephants, we found this bright bright purplely coloured paint under the elephants.

We have to put at least 2 coats of primer on before we try to paint our future Almond Shell Master Bedroom.

This is certainly a learning experience full of surprises!

HOME OWNERS!

Welcome to our new home!

On Thursday, Nov 15th Corey and I recived the keys to our first house!

It's located on Darlington Road, about 15 to 20 minutes from Charlottetown in the community of North Wiltshire.

We even got a picture of the sign....it's official...it's SOLD!

Here is us using our keys at the back door!

This will be our living room with the wood insert..and below is the opposit wall - the sitting room with the fire place.

All of the bedrooms are upstairs, and we are currently doing some work on the converting the previous "Home business office" into our Master Bedroom.

This is my favorite room....the Sunporch!

All lined with windows and hardwood floors!

I'm so excited!

Welcome to November!

Well, it’s been a few weeks since my last blog update, so I thought I’d fill you in on some of what Corey and I have been up to.

The biggest thing is that Corey and I are buying a house! Yes, you read it right, Corey and I are finally growing up and we are buying our own house!

The house doesn’t close until next week….so please keep us in your prayers as we work out all of the final details! It’s hard to believe that in 9 days we will be home owners! But there is still alot of stuff we need to do! As long as all goes well, I'll put up some photos of the house next week…so check back in!

October fell by so fast! Work for both of us has been very busy! October also brought Halloween! Corey went out with Ocean100 and did the Halloween Hunt! They had some great people participate (check out their www.ocean100.com website to see some pics).

I stayed home and gave out treats. We live in town, and last year we got over 70 kids…so this year I prepared for 80….but we only got like 38 kids, rather disappointing, and we have a ton of treats left over.

In that 38 there was a beautiful Princess (Taylor), Anne of Green Gables and her best friend Dianna Barry (Penelope and Ezabella) and a cute little bunny (Cecilie). But I was so excited to see them all, that I forgot to take any pictures….sorry….

Marathon Weekend

We just finished Marathon Weekend here on PEI, and we had tons of FUN!

Saturday morning Steph, Mom and I took Ezabella and Penelope to the Kids Spud Run...and they were super fast runners!

Here are the girls lining up for the race!

Ezabella Celebrated her finishing the big race, and cheered on sister Penelope as she approached the finish line!

On Sunday, it was the adults turn.

Steph and I did the 10K walk in 1 hour and 26min. We can in 12th!

On Thursday Penelope turned 3 years old!

We had a small family party at MacDonald's to celebrate

And on Saturday she had a huge Cowgirl party!

Where everyone wore the cowgirl/cowboy hats, there were tons of games, cake and presents!
And the highlight of the party was the hayride!
It was so much fun, even the adults went on a hayride!And Penelope had a super Happy Birthday!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Sunday after church we went apple picking with the Ables!

We all had an amazing time! We highly recommend the apple orchard on the York Road. The Orchard is very well layed out (they even gave us a map). The Orchard is well groomed and the kids had a ball!

So did the adults!
I think Uncle Corey ate more apples then he picked :)

Ezabella pretended to be Anne of Green Gables as she placed her apples into her basket.

For Halloween this year Penelope and Ezabella are going as Anne and Dianna.... stay tuned into my blog for some Halloween pics.

Sunday afternoon we went over to Mom and Dad Tremere's to have Thanksgiving dinner with the Tremere clan! Mmmm...the turkey was good!

On Thanksgiving Monday we went for a thanksgiving drive....and we found this beautiful Heritage Road! Look at the canopy of treeds over the road! We're going to go back and visit in a couple weeks when the trees will be in full fall colors!

Watching Bulls & Riding Horses!

Sorry for the delay in posting...life has just been really busy!

Friday night we went to the bull riding.... we didn't actually ride the bulls, but we watched the PBR (professional Bull Riders) competition which took place in the Charlottetown Civic Centre. It was pretty neat to watch.

I spent Saturday cutting out wood. My sister Amanda and I are going in a couple Christmas Craft fairs again this year, so I spent the day cutting out and staining Raindeer... not super exciting!

Then on Saturday night, Corey took part in the "Race for Hope" at the CDPEC.
It was a really cool fundraiser.

If you've ever watched harness racing, you'll know that the driver sits on something that looks like a small wagon with only a one seat, and is pulled by a horse....Well, for this fundraiser, the "drivers" were Transplant Recipients and the "horses" were celebraties. Corey and Gerard Murphy (another radio guy) were horses! Oh...it was so fun to watch!

Vacation Days!

WOW! What a great vacation Corey and I had...here are a few highlights

We started our vacation by spending an afternoon helping Jayne and Jordon Paint their new house!

Then we had a camp out in Mom's back yard with Amanda and Adam's families!

We even had a four leg visitor.

On Monday morning Corey, Adam and I headed over to St. Peter's Island for an overnight adventure...

We saw lots of Starfish when the tide was out, and we went snorkling when the tide came in.

The views were amazing!

There is an old lighthouse on the far side of the island, so we went for a hike!

And of course we had a great bonfire!

For anyone who doesn't know, when the tide goes down, you can hike straight over to the Island on the sand bars...but on our way back we were surprised to see.....

...a 34foot long sailing boat, resting on the sand bar. We saw the boat get stuck the night before, and the coastguard came and took in all the passengers. This is what the amazing vessle looked like when the tide was down.

We did alot over our vacation, we visited basin head, and went to the drive in, and then we went back to work...but it was a short work week because of the Gold Cup and Saucer Parade!

What an exciting weekend! My brother Adam and his family are home for a vacation.
As you can see, Liam was pretty excited as we left the Ch'town airport and headed to Grammy and Grampy's house!

It was our first time meeting Livia...isn't she sweet!

We decided to have a late birthday party for Adam, and Mom invited our new friends from the US, Anna and Kayla. Here is Kayla and Ezabella playing in the pool!

Anna treated dad to a therapeutic massage, she studied under a chiropractor in the states. Dad says that she can come back and visit anytime!

Greenwich with the Tremeres

So, Sunday we took an adventure out to Greenwich national park. It was a great day! We took the 1 and 1/2 hour walk, through the fields, the woods, across a pond, and out to the beach. Then we walked through the interpretive centre. All it all it was a great day!

It was a beautiful night last night, and we got to enjoy the evening on the 'Ocean' as we enjoyed the Ocean100 harbour cruise.

So, Saturday was Aerosmith...but Friday and Sunday were also fun days.
Friday we went to a BBQ at Camp Gencheff.

And Sunday we slept in, went to visit my mom and dad. We enjoyed the pool and hanging out with Mom, Dad, Ezabella and Penelope.

We also took dad's 4-wheeler out for a spin.

It was Corey's first time driving...and he did an awesome job!

Aerosmith

Okay, so it's been a crazy weekend on PEI...Aerosmith came to town last night...and there were over 30,000 people at the concert, which was a block from our house!

Camping in Summerside

So, Corey and I took off to Summerside for a camping weekend - we had an amazing time!

We had a Sticks tournament, where I was deemed the champion

Corey had his first experience making smores! mmm..... yummy

We also went to the Summerside Rodeo - we saw the Penning competition, the Poles and the Barrows.

Slemon park was another stop on our vacation...taking in the major Canadian Forces Planes

And to top off the weekend, we visited the newest portion of our National Park - the old Rainbow valley. We ran through the maze, and then walked teh 2km to the Cavendish beach!

All in all....what an amazing weekend!

Moncton Weekend

What a great weekend we had in Moncton! We got to hand out at the International Airshow…very very cool. Corey is currently working on his Private Pilot’s license, so he really enjoyed the airshow!

We spent Saturday night with Corey’s brother Jason and his wife Monique. (Thanks so much you guys for letting us crash at your house! ) Jason bbq’d up some awesome ribs for supper, and Corey and I taught them our new favorite game – Sticks!

Sunday we met up with one of my dearest friends – Sarah Haines. We enjoyed breakfast with Sarah, and then the sky opened up and the rain started to pour!

With the nasty weather outside, we decided to play some pirates mini-golf at Crystal Palace.

It was a close game, but in the end, Corey was the "Pirate Master", when it came it mini-golf. He actually got two hole-in-ones....isn't that amazing! Two in one game!

Corey was pretty excited when we say Homer and the Simpson clan at the mall...

All in all it was an amazing weekend get away!

Life with the Tremere's

Well, Corey and I have been very busy!
Last Friday night we went fishing....we didn't catch a thing, but we had a lovely BBQ, while watching the sun-set across the HardyMill Pond!

On Saturday we did the Bike for Bibles! It was a fun morning biking from Ch'town to Morell.
We then went to the circus with Steph and Taylor, we also saw Amanda, Justin and the girls there, along over a dozen of my relatives!

Sunday we went to church, and then down to Summerside for the kick off of the Tour de PEI... a huge female, five day, bike race.... it was amazing! These women were biking over 62k an hour...wow!

Also a busy time for birthday's! Corey's dad Winston celebrated this week...my mom will celebrate on Monday, and Jayne's will be in couple weeks on July 2nd. And Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there! Have a wonderful day on Sunday! After church we are taking Dad out for lunch, and then meeting Corey's Dad for supper! mmmm....good eating on father's day!

Tonight we are heading to the Relay for Life, so please be praying for us. If anyone hasn't heard about the relay, it is when you stay up all night, walking as a team, and raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Our church, First Baptist, has put together a team in memory of our late Pastor, Dr. Richard Coffin, and to remember our congretation who has suffered from the horrible illness.

Congrats to my mom!!!
Last night we had the honour of being there when my mom was named the new President of the PEI Women's Institute! We are so proud of her! Here are some pictures from that night.

Happy Fishing Season!

April 15th is an important day….it is not only by father’s birthday; it is also the first day of fishing season! Mom, Dad, Corey and I all left Brackley at 4:30am, and headed out to Bristle Pond. We arrived at 5am to find that the pond was half completely covered with ice, and the other have had a thin skim of ice on top of it….obviously not the best fishing conditions.

We spent about an hour throwing hard pieces of snow, trying to break apart the ice. At about 6:15 my uncle Alvin arrived and he decided to be very brave! He walked out on to the “thicker” ice (it was still only a few inches think), and carve out a hole. After he and my dad carved out a few holes, and they actually started to catch some fish, we all became a bit braver, and we joined them in ‘ICE FISHING’.

All in all it was a wonderful day! Mom had to leave early to go to church, but Corey, Dad and I stayed until about 10:30, and we all caught our limit – 30 fish in total! We went home, gutted and cleaned them, got ourselves cleaned up, had a little birthday party for Dad at Amanda’s house, and then headed home for a nap!

All it in all - it was a super fun day! And I can’t wait to get back out to the fishing hole!

Easter is one of my favorite times of year! We had a wonderful Easter weekend, enjoying church services, a Good Friday / Anniversary Lunch with Mom and Dad on Friday, relaxing and shopping on Saturday, Snow-day on Sunday and Easter supper with our Tremere family on Monday!

Here is a picture of the Eggcillent Cheese Cake that Corey and I made for Easter Supper! It was so much fun to make, and every more fun to eat!

Random Thoughts

So, I really do have a reason for no pictures lately, my camera is broken! It starting having a “focus error” and it wouldn’t take any pictures. So we sent it to Toronto to get fixed, or for the company to send us a new one…I hope it gets back soon! I really want to take some photos over Easter.

So, have you heard about the rim roller key chain? It is a really neat invention by this Canadian guy. It’s a key chain that you use to roll up the rim on coffee cups for prizes (like Tims or Robins). Very very cool! Check out Corey’s facebook notes for more info and a picture.

Not too much new in our little world. Work is going great! My sis moved into her new house (you can see a picture of it at peiparents blog – there is a link on the side bar). This weekend Corey and I will be enjoying the Credit Union Annual Meetings – The meetings are for Corey, I get to enjoy the hotel and the pool!

Next week is Holy Week, and a very busy week at our church. In February I was asked to start a drama ministry at our church…and this week is a very busy week for drama! We have drama happening on Thursday night, Friday morning, Sunday morning and Sunday night! I’m very excited about this new ministry, and I’d appreciate your prayers!

Sorry, no photos this week…but tons has been going on since my last blog posting!

- Last week Corey MC’d the Wendy’s Lipsink! Very very fun!
- Jason and Monique came over for a visit
- This week mom and dad headed off to Calgary to see Adam, Ivy, Liam and new baby Livia.
- My sister Amanda and her family are moving in to their new house, only a 5 minute walk from where Corey and I live.
- Last night Corey and I babysat Ezabella, Penelope and Cecilie - so much fun!
- Tonight we are heading to Summerside, where Corey is MCing the Special Olympic’s Awards Ceremony.
- Saturday we are going to the homeshow, where Corey is on remote.
- And Sunday my worship team is singing at church, and I’m doing prelude (talk about a busy morning!)

In addition to all that, I’ve recently been put incharge of revamping the Infrastructure section of the provincial website, and Corey is looking after a new website for the radio station (you should check out the new http://www.ocean100.com/ ), needless to say, work has been very busy!

As I mentioned, I don’t have any photos…but I do have an optical illusion (I love these things)…so check it out! It is a fish or a girl?

My new Niece has arrived!

Adam and Ivy Kenny had their second child last night. A beautiful healty little girl named Livia Dela Kenny! Livia (prounced like Olivia with without the O and deLA) was born Sunday, Feb 25 in the early evening. She was a little over 7 pounds, and 23 inches long! Mommy and Baby are both doing great!

Adam says, "She is beautiful, just like her mom."

Wow...what a weekend! Friday night we went to Rebecca and Anthony's to celebrate Rebecca's birthday with an ugly sweater party... it really was an ugly sweater party, we don't just have really bad fashion sense.

On Saturday we decided to head to the market, where we ran into mom and Ezabella!

Sunday was Effie Amanda's birthday!

We went bowling, out for supper and then back to Brackley for cake and presents!

World's Best Commercials 2006

Last night we went to the City Cinema to see the "World's Best Commercials 2006". It was an awesome show! Lots of laughs, and some serious commercials too. it is about an hour and a half of the best commercials of the year!

We tried to go last year, and it was sold out...so this year we got to the Cinema an hour early, and waited.... we got a little crazey waiting.

Popcorn Party

On Saturday night we gave my sis Effie and her husband the night off. As her early birthday present, we sent them to the confed center, and we took their girls for a night of popcorn, movies, playing with the bunnies, playing 'choo-choo-train' and having fun with their new sticker books!

Good news for Heroes fans: NBC has announced that it has already ordered a full second season!

Heroes is the #1 new series of the US season in adults 18-49. Heroes is NBC's highest-rated first-year drama, since ER debuted in Fall 1994.

From creator-executive producer Tim Kring (NBC's "Crossing Jordan") comes "Heroes" (Mondays, 9-10 p.m. ET) recently named the winner of the People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama is an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities and a destiny to save the world.

For anyone who hasn't watched Heroes, it is an awesome show. We are about half way through the first season, so you may want to wait for season one to come out on dvd, because it would be rather difficult to jump into this series.

Infrastructure?

What do you think of my new shoes?
I had to go and get "steel-toe" shoes and a hard hat, in order to be allowed to go on the Infrastructure tours last week....so these are my new shoes!

Okay, so ever since I took my new job, everyone asks me "What is Infrastructure?"
The dictionary defines Infrastructure as:
1.the basic, underlying framework or features of a system or organization.
2.the fundamental facilities and systems serving a country, city, or area, as transportation and communication systems, power plants, and schools.

On PEI, infrastructure looks at issues such as: Road, Bridges, Sports facilities, community centres, sewer, water, transportation, cultural facilities, waterfront developments, and the like.

Last week I got to go and tour some of the Infrastructures sites currently in developement, such as the Wastewater Treatment Plan in Summerside below is their sign), and the new Summerside Wellness Center (check out the plans below...this is an amazing new building. 2 swimming pools, a bowling alley, 2 ice rinks, conference center, meeting rooms, kitchen and a workout center...it is going to officialy open in late spring, but the pool is open now).

Infrastructure is very important to our society! Horray for Infrastructure!!!! :)

What a great day yesturday!!

Corey and I got up and walked to work.We both had busy day's at work, but sometimes the busier the day, the more rewarding it is when you get home.

We then recieved the sweetest call from our neice Taylor. She told us that she had all of her homework done, and she was wondering if she could come see our bunnies. (She is so sweet!)Of course we said yes, if it was okay with her mommie

So, a little while later, a Jayne and Taylor came for a visit! You might not be able to tell it from the pictures, but Taylor is getting so tall!

We had a nice visit, and then they headed home.

Corey and I decided we wanted to go for a walk, so we walked and we walked, all around town....and we walked right into Dairy Queen, where we enjoyed a blizzard. (I know what you're thinking...what's the use of walking if you're going to eat the calories in a blizzard afterwards... well, I don't really have an answer, except for the fact that it certainly was a nice treat!)

Then we watched a couple shows, and headed off to bed!

So really...it was a great day!

Tonight is the first night back at Awana (the children's program at our church, where we volunteer). Please be praying for all our Awana kids and leaders, as we get things started again for the new year.

Oh, we went the movies a couple nights ago. We saw The Holiday. Just to let you know, we do recommend this movie. There is only 2/3 swear words in the entire movie, and the characters are really cute.

By the way, if anyone wants to come see our bunnies, just give us a call...and as long as your homeworks done, and you're mommie says it's okay, you too can come and visit!

On the weekend, Cecilie, Penelope and Ezabella came for a short visit... they missed Two-bite and Brownie!

Uncle Corey was so proude of Cecilie. She just learned how to stand up (holding onto something of course,) all by herself! Her legs are getting extremely strong! The only problem is, sometimes she gets a little too brave, and she trys to let go... but mommy is always close by to catch her! She is such a sweetie!

Friday, January 29th was our annual Girls Christmas Party out at Becca's house!

It was a fun night, lots of great food, games, and the company wasn't too bad either. Here are a few pics from the night.

Lisa even stopped by for a visit! I hadn't seen here is ages, so it was great to get to chat and catch up!

This was another highlight of the night.... so sexy Julie!

I wasn't suppose to be a dress-up party...but Julie did make one good looking Pirate....and Sara was pretty close to an eskimo with that new hat of hers.

Kenny's arrive in Kenya

Many of you probably know that my brother Aaron and his family left for the mission field on Christmas morning. They flew out of Charlottetown airport at 6:00, travelled to Montreal, Toronto, London then then finally arrived in Nairobi this morning at 8:00am....Praise the Lord!

They are a little tired...but safe and sound in their new home! And God truly did protect them...of their 14 pieces of checked luggage, only ONE bag was missing!

Please continue to pray for them, and for all of their family members here in Canada, as we miss them SO much! (LOVE YOU GUYS!)

Christmas - with the Tremere's

Christmas day is usually a mini Marathon for Corey and I, and this year was no different.

We woke at 4:15...Corey had to go to the radio station to update the weather... we went to the Airport to see Aaron, Erica, Tristan and Emma ....they climbed aboard a plan, and were on their way to Africa.

Then we went and had a little nap, and spent the rest of the morning in Brackley opening presents and watching Ezabella and Penelope play with their Santa toys.

Around noon time, we went home, cleaned up, unpack the car full of gifts...repacked the car with presents for the evening, and opened our presents from each other.

I have to say...my husband is amazing! and he certainly did spoil me this year!

Around 3:45, we hit the road again and went to visit with the Tremere's...we had a wonderful turkey dinner and opened more presents.....here are a few pics from the Tremere Christmas

It has been an exciting Christmas...full of fun and games!

Christmas began back in Nov for us (you might remember my previous posting "The Earliest Christmas Ever". On Nov 11 Mom put up her first tree.

Aaron and Erica arrived for a visit on Dec 12th and they stayed right through till Christmas day.

Living Christmas Tree

So Last weekend I went to see the Living Christmas Tree in Moncton, and I ran into my old buddy Sarah Haines...I haven't seen here in ages! It was very exciting to look across the room and see her coming towards me!

For anyone who has never seen the Living Christmas Tree at Moncton, you really should go! I cried, I laughed....I was amazing!

These kids had white gloves, white hats and white socks on...and as they danced, the lights went out and black lights came on....so all you could see was their glowing hats, gloves, socks and ties! It was really cool!

The Angels were definitly my favorite part!

One thing I really liked about the Living Christmas Tree is that it didn't just end with the Christmas storey, it touched on Jesus's life, and then to the Cross and His resurection... This pictures is after Jesus has risen from the dead, and Him Assending back into Heaven with the angels!

Christmas Lights Across Canada 2006

Well, every year mom and I (and this year my sister Effie Amanda) dress up in victorian clothes and participate in the traditional walk up Historical Great George Street!

Corey didn't dress up...but they do have outfits for men...so next year you might see him in a top hat! heheheh....or at least I hope so!

Today (Saturday) is Santa's Parade in Charlottetown...So stay tuned for some new pictures on Monday!

Hey Everybody

Sorry no pictures again, our camera needs the batteries charged and we just keep forgetting.

Well, I hope you are all doing well…remember I do like to get emails and or comments every once and a while!

The weekend was fun. My sister Effie Amanda and I went in a craft fair. I did some tole-painting and she did jewelry. Friday night was really busy at the craft fair…I ending up going home to make more 4foot tall free standing Reindeer (they were definitely my most popular item). Then on Saturday, it wasn’t as busy…but there was a steady crowd.

Saturday night Corey took me to see the Royal Winnipeg Ballet perform The Messiah. It was beautiful! It was an untraditional ballet, more of an interpretation of each song individually. No real consistent story line. I know some people in the crowd would have preferred the more traditional…But I really enjoyed the performance! Especially one song they did about Christ being crucified! It was beautiful!

Now, I’m back to work for another week…. But remember…only 35 days ‘til Christmas!

November is busy!

Sorry, no pictures today….but I just wanted to give a quick update of what’ been going on.

I officially finished with the Canadian Cancer Society (I still have a few evening presentations to do, but overall…I’m pretty much done!). Today is my first official day with the provincial government, and it’s going very well. The Legislative Assembly Officially opens on Thursday, so it’s going to be a busy couple of days!

Mom left on Sunday for their mission trip to Toronto, where they will be working at the Yonge Street Mission. Please keep them in your prayers!

And my brother Adam and his sweet little boy Liam, flew out this morning! It was great getting to spend some time with them! They are amazing guys! And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister-inlaw Ivy…she celebrated her birthday last week!

This is going to be a busy week…Corey and I are going to celebrate with Frank Lewis early this evening. Frank is being honored by the Canadian Broadcasters Hall of Fame! Then I haven’t to go to another CCS Presentation. Tomorrow is work and another presentation (my last one..yeah!), Thursday is Awana and then over to Lowleens house for a little party with her and Amy (Lowleen and Amy are friends from CCS)…and Friday and Saturday my sister Amanda and I will be in the Coloner Gray Craft Fair…so this week I also will need to finish making all my crafts for the craft fair…anyone on PEI should come to the craft fair (no not to mock me), it’s a great place to buy some Christmas Presents…it’s only $2 to get in, and all the money goes to the band students!

Well…that’s my week…crazy….but good! Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Okay...so the Kenny's celebrated the Earliest Christmas ever! On Nov 11th we decorated Mom and Dad Kenny's Christmas Tree! Adam and Liam aren't going to be her for the real Christmas, so we decided to have a decorating party a little early this year!

Halloween was a fun night...Corey was working and I stayed home and gave out candy and chips to over 50 kids!

New Adventures

Sorry…I know it’s been a couple weeks since I updated the blog… but I’ve been busy! Work at the Cancer Society has been great! We have had an incredible response to our campaign!

I finish at the Cancer Society on Nov 10, and I immediately start a new adventure, with a new job with the Provincial Government. I know I’ve been saying how much I’ve been looking forward to taking some time off…but this opportunity arose, and I just couldn’t turn it down!

I applied for a gov job last Feb, and I was told that I was the #2 candidate. My resume was kept on record, and couple weeks ago I was called up and offered a job as Communication Officer for Infrastructure and Planning under the department of Community and Cultural Affairs…. I was shocked, I hadn’t applied for the job, but it seemed too good to pass on. So as soon as I finish at the Cancer Society, I start a 5-month (with the very likely possibility of becoming permit) full time position with the provincial gov! I’m very excited!

Please keep Corey and I in your prayers, and starting new adventure is as nerve racking as it is exciting! I know that God does not challenge us any more than we can handle....and I really feel that God has given me this new opportunity, and that he will use this job to strengthen and challenge me in new ways!
